The Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity continues its new funding initiative for members of the college community: the Towards Inclusion, Diversity, & Equity (TIDE) grant program. This program is designed to infuse inclusion, diversity, and equity into all aspects of our campus community.
By supporting the community through these grants, we want to leverage the creativity and passion of members of the college to further inclusion on campus and the surrounding community. We are looking for innovative and creative projects that work towards advancing inclusion, diversity, and equity in ways that are ideally calibrated to meet the pressing needs of individual units and departments or the campus as a whole. Possible directions for TIDE proposals include—but are not restricted to—art installations, campus conversations, discussion fora, ongoing workshops, training programs, or any other program that advances inclusion, diversity and equity in our community.
Funding. The TIDE program will provide up to $5,000 in support per project each year. Additional funding will be provided if resources allow.
Eligibility. All Williams faculty, staff, and students are eligible to apply. Collaborative projects across units, departments, and programs, are strongly encouraged and projects highlighting ways to assess and reflect on impact will be prioritized.
Application Procedure. Applications should be submitted to [email protected] and must include the following:
- Project title and one sentence summary;
- Project description (no more than 1,500 words) – to include outline of project, rationale, target audience, timeline, and project sustainability beyond the grant period;
- Project leader(s) and unit/department;
- Itemized budget.
Second Application Deadline for 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 Projects: March 15, 2019.
Selection Process. A committee will review all project proposals. Projects that emphasize collaborations across staff departments and/or academic units are especially encouraged.
Reporting Requirements. During the grant period, grantees are asked to participate in two workshops organized by OIDE. The first workshop, at the beginning of the grant period, will provide opportunities to refine projects and look to develop collaborative working relationships with other funded projects. The second, at the end of the grant period, will provide an opportunity for grantees to share their experiences with the college more broadly, including through the submission of reports made to the Office for Institutional Diversity and Equity. Grantees may also be asked to join the selection committee for the following TIDE cycle. After the grant year, OIDE will work towards incorporating the key lessons and insights from grant-sponsored projects into wider college programs and initiatives.
