Professor Erika Camacho delivers talk: Stranger in a Strange Land

On April 21, Erika Camacho, Associate Professor of Math at Arizona State University, visited campus.  During her visit, Camacho delivered a technical talk to the mathematics and statistics department, met with students and student groups committed to supporting historically underrepresented and marginalized students in the STEM plus fields, and delivered a talk titled, Stranger in a Strange Land: How I Found My Place in Academia, which highlighted her journey into academia despite the adversities she faced as a woman of color. Christopher Goh, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Faculty Fellow of the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity and the Davis Center, was instrumental in planning Professor Camacho’s visit.
