The College is pleased to announce that Yvonne Bungei (Williams College ’17) is the recipient of a Davis Projects for Peace Fellowship. The Fellowship funds Bungei to undertake a project in Eldoret, Kenya, her hometown, from June-August 2017. The project, Improved Reproductive and Sexual Health For Peace, aims to address high rates of teenage pregnancy and the social and familial conflict that follows when young, unmarried girls become pregnant. Bungei will partner with a church, health organization, teachers and women’s groups, to develop improved sex education programs, school-based peer health clubs, and a space where girls can seek sexual and reproductive health services and information.
