The Davis Center is proud to present several awards at the end of the academic term. Return here in spring 2021 to submit your nominations for these awards for the 2020-2021 academic year.

 


  • Senior Social Justice Advocate Award 

    • This award recognizes a senior who, in their time at Williams, has demonstrated a commitment to action toward access, equity, and inclusion at Williams and elsewhere. This senior works towards challenging systems of injustice, embraces a broad definition of diversity and social justice, and drives ongoing conversation regarding these issues.

  • Senior Cultivating Community Award

    • This award recognizes a senior committed to developing and building a stronger, more inclusive Williams College community. This senior works towards building bonds between students, developing deeper understanding between communities, and helping others to feel like they belong at Williams.
      • 2020 Recipient: Shane Beard ’20
      • 2019 Recipient: Rocky Douglas ’19
  • Outstanding Student Program of the Year Award

    • This award recognizes outstanding achievements in the process of planning and presenting of a program by a recognized student organization at Williams. Outstanding Programs are marked by clearly stated goals and objectives, creative use of resources, and overall impact on the campus community or intended audience.
      • 2020 Recipient: Krudas Cubensi Latinx Heritage Month
      • 2019 Recipient: Williams College Gospel Choir – Spring Concert
  • Outstanding Mentor of the Year Award

    • This award recognizes an outstanding staff, faculty, or community mentor who has made significant contributions to student success and development. Such a mentor goes above and beyond on behalf of their mentee to ensure their success or help them navigate obstacles, whether personal, professional, or academic.
      • 2020 Recipient: Professor Eli Nelson
      • 2019 Recipient: Professor C. Ondine Chavoya
  • Outstanding Student Mentor of the Year Award

    • This award recognizes an outstanding student who has taken the time and effort to serve as a mentor to their peers. An outstanding peer mentor goes out of their way to “lift as they climb”, sharing knowledge and experience with peers through intentional mentorship.  
      • 2020 Recipient: Theophyl Kwapong 
      • 2019 Recipient: Moises Mendoza ’19 
  • Outstanding Initiative of the Year Award

    • This award recognizes an initiative created by student, staff member, group, department, team or other member of the Williams community which demonstrates a commitment to advancing broad campus engagement with complex issues of identity, history, and cultures as they affect intellectual, creative, and social life. Such an initiative is marked by clearly stated goals and objectives, overall impact, and commitment to access, equity, and inclusion at Williams and elsewhere.
      • 2020 Recipient: Ad-hoc COVID-19 Support Group
      • 2019 Recipient: Jaelon Moaney ’19
  • Unsung Hero of the Year Award

    • This award recognizes a student who has worked behind the scenes, going above and beyond the call of duty, to ensure the success of a campus community or registered student organization. This student might not be the most visible campus leader, but has been a consistent presence, always ready to roll up their sleeves and do the work that needs to be done.
      • 2020 Recipient: Yaznairy Cabrera ’20
      • 2019 Recipient: Leo Haines ’21
