DC Lunch n' Learn: Black archives at Williams & disability justice

Join Jo Hovey ’23 and Nasir Grissom ’23 to learn about their Summer 2022 Racial Justice Summer Opportunity Grant projects. Event held Monday, September 26, 12-1 PM at Bascom House. Lunch will be provided. Students, Staff, and Faculty are welcome!

Jo produced a zine titled “Marginalized Bodyminds and Healthcare: Experiences with Disability, Race, Gender, and Sexuality,” which brings together disability studies scholarship and personal narratives by Black, brown, queer, and/or disabled people.

Nasir developed a library exhibit called “Anamnesis: Reviving and Reproducing the Archive,” which is drawn from printed materials (from the Library’s Special Collections) which were created by Black Williams community members.

Accessibility Information: Bascom House is at 33 Stetson Court, across the street from the JRC. Bascom House has all-gender bathrooms on every floor. There is an ADA accessible all-gender bathroom on the first floor. The front door to Bascom has an ADA door opener on it. There is an ADA ramp to the building from the parking lot, so you do not have to ascend or descend stairs to access or exit the building.
