Williams Community Celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Today, students, faculty, staff and members of the surrounding community gathered throughout the day to celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. The celebration started with a day of service at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. There was also a viewing of the movie Selma and one of Dr. King’s speeches. Mathematics students aided children and families in a LEGO recreation of the Edmund Pettus bridge. In addition, there were wonderful individual and group presentations and performances by students, including by Sankofa, Gospel Choir and Sisterhood. The events were co-sponsored by The Davis Center, Center for Learning in Action, the Chaplain’s Office, and Dining Services.
